So let’s just say this month will be busy.
In a really good way.

I’d love to see you in New Orleans, LA, Hattiesburg, MS, and/or San Francisco!
Read: I am traveling three weekends in a row, all in the name of The Gay Dad Project. I’m extremely excited, nervous, and have the added stress of trying to figure out what to wear. Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, where are you?!

On Saturday, June 15th, I have the privilege of speaking at the 21st Annual HRC New Orleans Gala along with my father. If you’re interested in attending, you may purchase HRC tickets here. There will be several other phenomenal speakers, including Chad Griffin, HRC’s President, Kevin Alejandro of HBO’s True Blood, and comedienne Suzanne Westenhoefer.

The Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 1.5 million members and supporters nationwide. As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, HRC envisions an America where LGBT people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. source

On Saturday, June 22nd, I’ll be in Hattiesburg for a fundraiser for The Gay Dad Project documentary. On Sunday, June 23rd, I’ll be in New Orleans doing the very same thing. You’ll notice some details are missing from this version of the invitation in order to protect our lovely hosts’ privacy; however, if you’re interested in attending, please leave me a comment here or email me at erinmargolin {at} gmail {dot} com. Please don’t be intimidated by the suggested donations; we’re happy to have you regardless of the level at which you’re able to contribute. That being said, we are a not-for-profit and we desperately need your support in order to finish what we’ve started. We’ll be serving heavy hors d’oeuvres and plenty of adult beverages. I’ll be talking about what we’re doing behind the scenes, answering questions, and even showing some exclusive footage from the film. Consider yourselves invited!

Finally, I’ll be in San Francisco from June 27 – July 1 with our film crew and my partner on the project, Amie Shea. If you or someone you know would be interested in sharing his/her story, please get in touch with us as soon as possible! We want to interview and film kids who have an LGBTQ parent, the spouses left behind in the aftermath of the coming out crisis, and the LGBTQ parents themselves. We simply want to hear and share your stories. Our documentary is about families and what happens after a parent comes out. Obviously we’ve all had different experiences, and that’s part of what will make this film so interesting.

After filming for those few days, we’ll also attend San Francisco Pride festivities and the parade on Sunday, June 30th. Can’t find us? Looking for us sporting our GDP shirts made by Lovebian!

Stay tuned for more, and in the interim, I appreciate your support and sharing. Please help us connect with others who have been though this. We need them to know they’re not alone.

Love,

Erin
